Integrated Arabic Curriculum (IC) 📕

I want to learn Arabic. Should I choose the Integrated Curriculum or regular language sessions?

Our Integrated Curriculum program is a one-of-a-kind Arabic program that combines Modern Standard Arabic with Levantine Arabic, which is spoken in Syria, Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon. This program follows the Arabiyyat al Naas textbook, and it is suitable for learners of all language levels and is taught one-on-one. We highly recommend it to students who want to build their Arabic skills on strong foundations with structured instruction.

We are also pleased to say that we offer a trial session for our Integrated Curriculum offering. During this session, your tutor will give you a taster of the Curriculum, assess your Arabic level, and advise you on the correct book volume to purchase.

You can get started here and sign up for a trial session: https://natakallam.com/integrated-curriculum/

Where can I find the textbook for the Integrated Curriculum program?

You can find the textbook “Arabiyyat al Naas” here: Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3

📚 The Arabiyyat al Naas textbook comes in three volumes. Please put off purchasing the textbook until after your first session, as your tutor will make use of this session to determine your Arabic level and advise you on the correct book volume to purchase.

You can get the Arabiyyat Al Naas textbook in both physical and e-book formats. Many of our students prefer the e-book option in order to avoid shipping costs and delays.

How can I access the audio resources?

  1. Go to the book page, so for Part 1: https://routledgetextbooks.com/textbooks/arabiyyat-al-naas/part-one.php

  2. Click on Student Resources

  3. Answer the question. For Part 1, the answer usually is "correspond"

Language sessions vs Integrated Curriculum vs Arabic for Professionals

  • Language Sessions (LS): it's mostly conversation sessions. You could work on specific content with your language partner though during those sessions too that you together decide to focus on any of the four skills (Speaking, Writing, Listening, and Reading) during your sessions.

  • We would recommend it for intermediate to advanced students.

  • Cost: $25 per session and as low as $16 for bigger bundles

  • Integrated Curriculum (IC): for all language levels.

  • We would recommend it for any students who want a more structured approach to learning

  • When registering for the course, you can choose the free trial session where your assigned language instructor will inform you of your level in comparison to the curriculum through short verbal exercises along with explaining the curriculum in detail and responding to any queries you may have.

  • You will also be advised which "Arabiyyat al-Naas" book (there are 3, corresponding to 3 different levels- Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3 you should purchase. This is a fully flexible course which means that you can begin at your level of comfortability as opposed to starting at the beginning.

  • This is a fully structured MSA/Levantine curriculum option in partnership with the head of the Arabic department at Cornell University, Professor Munther Younes. Munther, is also the author of the "Arabiyyat al Naas" books which accompany the curriculum.

  • This integrated approach was developed by Munther as the traditional system of teaching students only MSA leaves many students struggling to communicate verbally, especially when they travel to the region and desire to use the language in everyday settings.

  • In an effort to solve this common problem and close the gap between Western classrooms and the real world, "Arabiyyat al-Naas" teaches students the living language as it is used by native speakers every day. The curriculum introduces spoken Levantine Arabic (the Arabic used in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine), and uses it for ordinary conversation and discussion throughout the course, while using MSA for reading, writing and formal or scripted speech.

  • All of the NaTakallam's IC language instructors have been trained by Professor Younes to teach this curriculum & course specifically.

  • Cost: $750usd/25 hours. So $30 per session

  • Arabic for Professional (AP): we would recommend it for upper-intermediate and advanced students. It is a unique series of structured, bite-size courses crafted by our most experienced instructors in response to our upper-level students’ needs.

  • The courses are perfect for journalists, humanitarians, healthcare workers and business professionals who have an upper-intermediate or advanced level of Arabic and are looking for short, structured courses to help them bridge the gap to proficiency. This one includes access to a Learning Management System (LMS) where the course content is accessible.

  • Cost: $350usd/10 hours. So $35 per session

Expiration policy ⌛

Why does NaTakallam have an expiration policy?

We have an expiration policy at NaTakallam to manage the workflow for our Language Partners and help distribute the number of hours displaced people receive as evenly as possible. It is also important for the Language Partners as they organize themselves and also roughly estimate the amount of income they will obtain per month.

I need an extension on the expiration period. Can you help?

If your sessions are about to expire, you can purchase an additional bundle. This will extend the expiration period to the one of the newly purchased bundle and it will add up to the validity of your current bundle. You will once again have weeks to complete your sessions.

My sessions have expired. What can I do?

When your bundles expire, they will be automatically removed from your student dashboard. You can purchase a new bundle to reactivate them. They will inherit the validity of the newly purchased bundle.

If you think there is a mistake, Please drop us a line at support@natakallam.com explaining the situation and we will try to find a solution!
