NaTakallam Code of Conduct

Edited

The NaTakallam Code of Conduct establishes the principles and standards that guide our interactions, ensuring a respectful, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.

It outlines our commitment to professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and the promotion of a safe, supportive space where language partners and learners can connect, learn, and grow.

By adhering to this code, we create a community rooted in mutual respect, empathy, and understanding.

See below the mains points:

Professionalism

By signing the contract with NaTakallam, you commit to maintaining a high standard of professionalism in all aspects of your work.

Being professional means demonstrating respect, reliability, and integrity in every interaction, whether it's during sessions, emails, or other forms of communication.

This professionalism is reflected in:

  • Communication: how you communicate, ensuring your tone is respectful and clear;

  • Responsiveness & Reliability: being prompt in responding to messages, staying dependable and engaged;

  • Quality: your commitment to providing well-prepared and engaging sessions.

Communication

Effective communication is crucial, especially in a remote work environment.

It's important to actively and consistently communicate with the NaTakallam team, as well as with students, teachers, and university professors you collaborate with.

Always follow up on emails or messages, and promptly reach out to the appropriate NaTakallam contacts if any issues arise.

If there are any changes to your legal status, current location, work/education details, WhatsApp/phone number, or email, please inform us immediately. Over-communicating helps us stay aligned and prevents misunderstandings.

While you have full autonomy in setting your availability as a freelancer, it's crucial to keep everyone informed, especially if there are frequent changes or extended periods of time off. Always update your availability on the NaTakallam platform and proactively notify the NaTakallam team via email to ensure smooth coordination and minimize any disruptions.

Responsiveness

Please be sure to respond in a timely manner to any message or communication from the NaTakallam team, but also from any student, teacher, university professor or any other type of user.

If you are not able to respond after two follow-up messages, within 1 week, then it will be considered a clear breach of the NaTakallam Code of Conduct.

Reliability and Punctuality

Our team must be confident that they can rely on you to fulfill your responsibilities within the agreed-upon timeline. Your reliability directly impacts the motivation and learning experience of your students, making it crucial to maintain consistent availability and punctuality.

By committing to being reliable and punctual, you help create a positive learning environment, ensuring that students feel valued and motivated to continue their language journey.

The following actions can significantly affect student engagement and motivation and may be considered a breach of the NaTakallam Code of Conduct, leading to the termination of your contract:

  • Arriving late to a session of more than 15 mins after the agreed-upon tasks.

  • Canceling more than four sessions without a valid reason.

  • Canceling two sessions within a week without a clear and documented excuse.

  • Delivering translation work late more than twice (if you are part of the translation team).

We understand that unexpected events can occur, causing either the student or Language Partner to cancel or reschedule a session.

However, to ensure students have sufficient options for booking, Language Partners must be available for at least 20 hours per week. This commitment plays a crucial role in maintaining student motivation and ensuring a positive learning journey.

Fulfilling Responsibilities

Joining the NaTakallam team includes certain responsibilities, especially those related to administrative tasks.

You will have

  • Updating your availability on the platform EVERY WEEK (or in case of any changes to your schedule)

  • Attending training and meetings when asked to

  • Filling out form when required to

Failure to do so repeatedly, meaning that NaTakallam team has to follow up with you on these questions, would be considered a clear breach of the NaTakallam Code of Contract.

Quality

You are required to attend the performance review of your work with NaTakallam every six months.

The performance review is based on set key performance indicators (KPIs) which ensure to monitor the quality of your work based on the comparison of the target set by NaTakallam.

If your performance is below the set targets and therefore, below the users' expectations, despite the NaTakallam’s efforts to assist you by providing you with additional training and material to improve your performance, it will be considered a breach of the NaTakallam Code of Conduct, and might potentially lead to the termination of your contract.

Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure

Any information your students share should be considered information that is confidential, unless you tell them you would like to share it and they accept and grant you permission. Please kindly do not share any information or photos/videos publicly or with anyone outside the NaTakallam team, unless you've also gotten their approval. This is in respect of the student’s privacy.

Taxation/Legal Standing

Please keep in mind that as a freelance, independent contractor, you are responsible for knowing if your work with NaTakallam is deemed legal given your status, location, and condition.

NaTakallam is not liable for the legality of your work with us. NaTakallam is also not responsible for how you will choose to file your taxes given the income you generate from your work at NaTakallam. NaTakallam will try, given its knowledge and capacity to provide you with information related to your work rights/your status in countries that we might have familiarity with, however, none of this is with guarantees and the responsibility is ultimately yours as an individual.
